The chosen and photographed bunkers are those the shape, situation and contours give the picture something more than the material storing of a boundary : a kind of science fiction scenery, a trace of land art, a modernist architecture, a contemporary geoglyph.\u003cbr\u003eThe gap between the abundance of the relics of the line and the few contemporary representations of the latter offer an exciting playfield to question our relationship to landscape, to the boundary, to the limit. Les formes de ses bunkers répondent à cette dimension symbolique. À travers ses images, Alexandre Guirkinger a voulu partager sa fascination pour cette extraordinaire relique d’une modernité déjà ancienne. Les bunkers choisis et photographiés sont ceux dont la forme, la situation ou la silhouette entraînent l’image vers autre chose que l’enregistrement matériel d’une frontière : une sorte de décor de science-fiction, une trace de land art, une architecture moderniste, un géoglyphe contemporain. Kooiker had revised a few of the nearly identical images in Photoshop, freely altering layer after layer, often stretching the image beyond recognition while exploiting Photoshop’s complete colour spectrum. The large inkjet prints he made from his experiments conveyed a subtle painterly effect.\u003cbr\u003eExpanding his series, Kooiker downsized the image to a square format, shifting the focus to the model’s bottom, while he kept labouring on and experimenting with this basic image in Photoshop.
