This volume accompanies the exhibition that MAXXI is dedicating to the figure of Ugo Ferranti, one of Italy's most innovative contemporary art gallerists. Letters, manuscripts, photographs, invitations, posters, and publications restore the various aspects of his work: the exchanges with artists and critics as well as the weaving of professional relationships and friendships with Italian and international galleries that would last over the years. From the documents on display emerges the dialogue of the works with the exhibition space, born precisely from the reflections of the mid-1970s around radical architecture, minimalist and environmental art. The focus presents fundamental moments in the history of contemporary Italian art and central figures of the period including Richard Nonas, Niele Toroni, Richard Tuttle, Mario Schifano, Christo, Marcia Hafif, Giulio Paolini, André Cadere, Maurizio Mochetti, Domenico Bianchi, Bruno Ceccobelli, Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, Daniel Buren, Cy Twombly, Sol LeWitt, Jannis Kounellis. With texts by: Giovanna Melandri, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Maria Alicata, Denis Viva and Carla Subrizi. With an interview by Giulia Mastropietro with Massimo D'Alessandro and one by Maurizio Faraoni with Yvon Lambert. Completing the volume are the registry of exhibitions edited by Giulia Mastropietro and the cataloging of the Ugo Ferranti Fund edited by Giulia Pedace.
