This book shows a range of color images at the edges of a whole work.
Pictures that emerge from the basic half-unconscious framing learned on the street.
In the case of the picture of the woman’s clasped hands- it was this fragment -suddenly in the frame- at the bus stop, not composed, but quickly centered, that was the start of the picture. One hand is bare and one is gloved and the fact of the color film in the camera is almost incidental. After developing the film the glove she is wearing is distinctly red-but at the time of the exposure-putting the camera lens so close to the clasped hands - was a much more intense experience-then the trespass into her personal space.
Color added additional voice to pictures. I felt they gained energy, and accidental social, meaning as I walked through the city attracted by almost anything. Any eye contact was a factor. A wire, or a step. There is still no plan or theory about this work. It just developed and expanded for fifty years. Pictures were made into prints, all 11X14 or 16X20 inches, then into boxes after a long series of exhibits. I started to make pictures commercially in high school. Most of these pictures were portraits of children printed as 16X20 inch black and white pictures, dry mounted,that I took in the backyards of these kids’ homes and then made contact sheets for proofs to show their parents. This was in 1960.
It was always a completely separate operation. I knew about Kodachrome and Ektachrome, and Kodacolor, but all these color techniques were far too expensive to print.
My own work was black and white and printed in my darkroom. Some of the first,real, color pictures I made, in heated trays of chemicals, were when Vericolor II film was introduced by Kodak in the early 1970s. It was the same ‘speed’ as Tri-x and so could be used with the same camera settings as the b/w film. At first, I thought I would try to forget which film I had in the camera since the power of the pictures was not driven by the film in the camera. It was stimulated by a psychological interaction between meand what I saw as I walked along in the streets and alleys of Wilkes-Barre. The earliest pictures in this book are from those negatives. Then in 1977, I used a whole year making color pictures and this film was developed and proofed by Kodak as part of a project with the George Eastman House.
The last set of images is from 1987. In that year I used only Fuji 1600 color negative film.
It is a very fast film so perfect for the fast, close, street photography I was doing.

2. Shipping & Delivery
- Packaging
We pack every order with care to ensure it arrives safely. Posters and prints are rolled and placed in a sturdy cardboard tube, which is then secured in a shipping box.
Important Note on Combined Orders:
Please be aware that certain items, like books and posters, cannot be safely packed together due to their different shapes and sizes. As a result, an order containing multiple item types may be shipped in separate packages and incur separate shipping fees. - Shipping Rates & Carriers
We ship worldwide from Paris via La Poste (France's national postal service), using their Colissimo, Priority Mail services with the exception of certain products shipped via UPS. Shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on the weight, volume, and destination of your package. If you require a different carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL), please contact us before placing your order to arrange it. - Estimated Transit Times
Once your order has shipped, the estimated delivery times are as follows:

3. Free In-Store Pickup (Paris)
You can skip the shipping fees with our free local pickup service at our bookshop in Paris.
- How it Works:
Simply select the "Pick up" option at checkout.

If you are ordering from outside of France but wish to collect your order at our bookshop in Paris, please select "France" as the delivery country first. In-stock items will be ready for pickup within 24 hours (Tuesday-Saturday). This does not apply to made-to-order items like art prints and t-shirts. - Notification:

Return Policy
- 14 to 30-Day Returns: You have 14 clear days from delivery to notify us of your return if you reside within the European Union, and 30 days for orders delivered outside the European Union.
- Item Condition: Items must be returned intact, new, and securely packaged in their original condition to be eligible for a refund.
- Contact Us First: Before sending an item back, you must email us at shop@yvon-lambert.com to notify us of your decision and receive return instructions.
- Shipping Costs: Return shipping costs are your sole responsibility.
- Damaged Items: If your order arrives damaged, please send us photographs of both the package and the item by email as soon as possible (within 48 to 72 hours). If the package is visibly damaged upon delivery, you may refuse it directly with the carrier.
- International Returns (Non EU): To prevent customs charges upon arrival in France, you must clearly mark "RETURNED GOODS" on the customs declaration form (CN22/CN23) as well as on the outside of the package.
- Refunds: Once your return is received and inspected at our store, your refund will be processed within 14 days using your original payment method.
- Non-refundable Items: Magazines and custom or made-to-order items are non-refundable.
