CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON
INDEX
On Wednesday, May 13 from 6 PM to 8 PM
Exhibition on view until June 14, 2026

Christopher Anderson (born 1970, Canada) is a photographer and filmmaker whose work has evolved from documentary photography to a more personal and introspective practice. Widely published over the past three decades and a member of Magnum Photos from 2005 to 2023, he first gained recognition for his work in conflict zones, notably awarded the Robert Capa Gold Medal. A pivotal shift in his trajectory led him to move away from reportage, developing a body of work rooted in proximity, family, and lived experience, where emotional connection became central to the image.
This exhibition marks his second presentation with Yvon Lambert, following Odyssey, in 2023. It brings together a selection of photographs that reflect this evolution, images shaped by perception and memory, where light and gesture take precedence over direct description, and where the boundaries between document and fiction remain deliberately porous.
The exhibition is drawn from INDEX (Stanley/Barker), Anderson’s latest publication. Conceived as a visual sequence rather than a linear narrative, the book assembles images through rhythm and repetition, extending his ongoing exploration of photography as a form of storytelling. This body of work forms the basis of the exhibition.
On the occasion of the opening on May 13, Christopher Anderson will be present for a signing of INDEX.
