Aurélien Mole - 30 mn

€35.00

A photo report in an photo lab (artist's book).

With two disposable analogue cameras purchased on site, Aurélien Mole spent thirty minutes documenting a local photography lab, a relic of a bygone era: that of the industrialisation and popularisation of analogue photography. It took no longer than that to develop and print the two-colour negative films for this photo report, and to craft this brief introductory text—a little more time was required, though, for Syndicat to design its ghostly layout, in a book that plays on the contrast between matte paper and screen-printed varnish.

Aurélien Mole (born 1975 in Tehran, Iran, lives and works in Paris) is a French artist, art critic and curator. After graduating of the Louvre school in History of Photography, he continued his studies at the National School of Photography in Arles and concluded it with a Master on exhibition practices directed by Catherine Perret and Christian Bernard.

He has been showing his work in solo exhibitions at the Lucile Corty Gallery in 2009, in Marseille in 2011, at the Villa du Parc in 2012, at the Dohyang Lee gallery in 2014, and at Passerelle in 2015. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in France and abroad.

As an art critic, he regularly published reviews relating to the exhibition as well as monographs on contemporary artists (Aurélien Froment, Guillaume Leblon, Gaël Pollin, etc.) in the Art21 magazine. He has also produced exhibitions based on devices within the collective Le Bureau/ (A Simple Plan, Maison Populaire de Montreuil, in 2009; The Bonnard'syndrom, Villa du Parc 2014) and in his own name (Images grow old otherwise as Those who Make them in 2012 at CNEAI, Véronique in 2019 with Julien Carreyn at Frac Poitou Charente, The Asides with Orange Rouge in 2023).

Since 2008, he has produced photographic documentation for numerous artists, institutions and galleries. Finally, he is one of the founding members of the magazine dedicated to exhibition views Postdocument. And has published several books including Artists as Iconographers with Garance Chabert (Empire) or Véronique designed by the artist My-Lan Hoang-Thuy.
