Mute

Italian artist Giuseppe Penone, a leading figure of Arte Povera, marks his second contribution to the collection with this volume following “16 pagine”.

Titled “Mute” [Molts], this original publication takes the form of a leporello housed in a full paper-bound box with dry stamping. The leporello features twenty-nine panels depicting snake molting (mue), printed on 100 gsm Old Mill Premium White paper.

The project was developed in close collaboration with Giuseppe Penone and Yvon Lambert by Stéphane Crémer, who also supervised its production. Photogravure of the original photocopies and their retouchings was executed by Les Artisans du Regard together with Droit à l’Image. HUV trichrome and quadrichrome printing with screen printed varnish was performed by Stipa. The box was crafted by La Reliure d’Art du Centre.
