Fond Perdu Vol. 5, is an exploration of the intersection when the body meets water, highlighting the connection and immersiveness felt at the time. Thiefaine travelled through the Bay of Cavalaire, a seaside resort in the South of France, delving into the culture of Mediterranean youth and their everyday lives. Fond Perdu Vol. 5, is a visual tale about bodily sensations and behaviours that reflect the personal significance of moments, memories and imaginations, playing off tendencies of becoming absorbed with/by something bigger than us, and establishing deep relations in the unknown.

Charles Thiefaine’s work predominantly focuses on the body language, behaviour and reactions that occur under certain circumstances, and the adaptation of habits and manners that follows after. His focal point is Iraq, and its youth, and through his documentation and observation, he is trying to break down cultural stereotypes whilst staying true to the nature of cultural identification and ethnographic data.
