Often associated with Arte Povera, Italian artist Giulio Paolini belongs strictly to the conceptual realm, centering his work on the intricate relationship between the artwork, space, and the viewer.

Titled “Œuvres complètes” [Complete Works], the publication features a booklet of hand-retouched lithographs. It includes Jean-Claude Lebensztejn’s text “Une rêverie émanée de mes loisirs”.

This initial 16-page booklet remains uncut, yet it is paginated as if it ought to be. It is followed by Paolini’s artistic intervention on a matching 16-page booklet: as the pages are unfolded, Paolini features representations of the very blank page being viewed, step-by-step demonstrating the sixteen letters that spell ŒUVRES COMPLÈTES.

The text is hand-set by the typographers of the Atelier du Livre in Didot millimétrique type and the book is printed on the Imprimerie Nationale presses on 220 gsm Rives BFK paper.

The entire work is presented in a slipcase featuring a negative image of various paper folds. The photographs are by Paolo Mussat Sartor.Book II.
