Aux vieilles tapisseries
Major French-American contemporary artist Louise Bourgeois (1911–2010) created a deeply intimate body of work shaped by memory, the body, and family history.
Titled “Aux vieilles tapisseries”, this publication gathers forty-four “sentences” by Louise Bourgeois—forty-four phrases and words written or spoken by the artist. It includes an original silk screen print in red and blue printed by Derrière l’Étoile Studios (New York), along with a facsimile of her father’s business card. “Aux vieilles tapisseries” was the name of her father’s tapestry restoration shop; this facsimile was printed in black and white by Peter Kruty Editions (New York).
The volume was typeset by Atelier Mérat-Auger in Granjon type and printed on 300 gsm Magnani di Pescia extra white paper. The complete edition is housed in a red cloth-covered slipcase crafted by Établissements Dermont-Duval.
