Philippe Weisbecker
Porte chaussette, 2016
Philippe Weisbecker approaches the sock holder here as a pure "found object". He does not seek to invent a form, but to take what already exists in the domestic or industrial world.
Removed from its utilitarian context, the object is isolated on the page like an inventory item. Weisbecker appropriates this anonymous, manufactured utensil to highlight its simple logic. The drawing acts here as an observation: that of the visual singularity of ordinary things once placed on paper.
