Ryoko Sekiguchi a souvent écrit sur les cinq sens : l’audition dans La Voix sombre, le goût dans plusieurs ouvrages, comme Nagori ou 961 heures à Beyrouth (et 321 plats qui les accompagnent), comme sur l’éphémère et l’impalpable. Avec ce nouveau livre, elle fait de l’odeur une héroïne de roman. Si « l’odorat, constate Ryoko Sekiguchi, n’a que peu de place en Occident dans les productions de l’esprit, et rares sont les œuvres, littéraires ou philosophiques, qui y sont consacrées », l’odeur est pourtant l’extension de la présence, elle précède et poursuit une apparition. Elle nous offre surtout une lecture plus riche et romanesque du monde.
Pour Ryoko Sekiguchi, les odeurs ont la capacité de devenir des personnages, capables de provoquer un drame, délivrer un message, révéler des sentiments et raconter notre passé ou notre avenir. L’Appel des odeurs est un roman composé de plusieurs récits, un peu à la façon des Mille et Une Nuits. La narratrice tient un « carnet d’odeurs », au travers d’histoires ou de contes oniriques. On ignore si ces récits ont été inventés par la narratrice, ou si elle les a « vécus » en voyageant dans l’espace et le temps, à la manière de l’Orlando de Virginia Woolf. Récits ancrés dans des lieux différents et des époques variées : Grenade en Espagne, Spoleto en Italie, dans un opéra à Ferrare au XVIIIe siècle, au Palais-Royal à Paris sur trois siècles consécutifs, en Corse dans l’entre-deux-guerres, au Japon, à Taipei, dans une imprimerie de Téhéran au XIXe siècle, à New York et Los Angeles… Chaque odeur a un corps et un langage, une présence susceptible de bouleverser notre rapport au temps et à l’espace. Puanteurs, miasmes, ou parfums si délicats qu’il faut « prêter le nez » pour les remarquer. La narratrice découvre aussi l’expérience douloureuse de la perte de l’odorat, un exil du monde dont souffrent les personnes atteintes d’anosmie.

Our photo prints and t-shirts are produced on-demand. Please allow 2-3 weeks for production before these items are shipped. - In-Stock Items (All Other Products)
All other orders are processed and prepared for shipment within 1-2 business days. - Order Notifications
You will receive a confirmation email immediately after your purchase. A second email with tracking information will be sent as soon as your order has shipped. - Restocking
Occasionally, some item may be in the process of restocking. If this causes a delay in preparing your order, we will contact you directly by email to inform you.
2. Shipping & Delivery
- Packaging
We pack every order with care to ensure it arrives safely. Posters and prints are rolled and placed in a sturdy cardboard tube, which is then secured in a shipping box.
Important Note on Combined Orders:
Please be aware that certain items, like books and posters, cannot be safely packed together due to their different shapes and sizes. As a result, an order containing multiple item types may be shipped in separate packages and incur separate shipping fees. - Shipping Rates & Carriers
We ship worldwide from Paris via La Poste (France's national postal service), using their Colissimo, Priority Mail, or Delivengo services. Shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on the weight, volume, and destination of your package. If you require a different carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL), please contact us before placing your order to arrange it. - Estimated Transit Times
Once your order has shipped, the estimated delivery times are as follows:

3. Free In-Store Pickup (Paris)
You can skip the shipping fees with our free local pickup service at our bookshop in Paris.

Simply select the "Pick up" option at checkout. - Preparation Time:
In-stock items will be ready for pickup within 24 hours (Tuesday-Saturday). This does not apply to made-to-order items like art prints and t-shirts. - Notification:
We will send you an email as soon as your order is ready for collection, along with instructions. - Pickup Hours:

Return Policy
- 30-Day Returns: You can return any item within 30 days of delivery, as long as it's in new, unused condition.
- Contact Us First: Always email us at shop@yvon-lambert.com before sending anything back. We’ll guide you through the process.
- Shipping Costs: You are responsible for return shipping costs. Please note that original shipping fees are non-refundable.
- Exchanges: Yes, we offer exchanges. Contact us to arrange it. You will need to cover the new shipping fee.
- Damaged Item: If your order arrives damaged, email us photos within 48 hours. If the box looks badly damaged upon arrival, you can refuse the delivery.
- International Returns: You must write "RETURNED GOODS" clearly on the outside of the package to avoid customs fees.
- Refunds: Once we approve your return, your refund will be processed to your original payment method.
