For this 14th issue of Study, we looked at the world of Sennosuke Kataoka, a kabuki actor only twenty-six years old, already carrying on his shoulders the weight of a formidable lineage. He is the heir to a long line of performers, born into a tradition where gesture and silence are transmitted like family secrets.
He approaches Kabuki with a restlessness that feels almost defiant. He unsettles its fixed rhythm and loosens the strict seasonality that once dictated when and how a body appears on stage. He accepts Western roles without hesitation, this autumn he stepped into the title role of Hamlet by William Shakespeare, and moves between languages, forms, and audiences with a natural ease. At the same time, he continues his university studies, inhabiting two temporalities at once: the ancient and the immediate. In the fall, during performances of Fuji Musume, two photographers followed him closely. Kotori Kawashima spent two days immersed in the private hours of rehearsal, where the art is still uncertain, searching for its final shape and Mayumi Hosokura entered during dress rehearsals and the charged intensity of live performance, when costume, light, and breath align before an audience.
What emerges from these parallel portfolios is an unfiltered portrait: not the polished icon of a classical art form, but a young artist in motion, passionate, disciplined and sometimes solitary. His ambition is clear : to carry kabuki into the twenty-first century. To let it travel beyond the borders of Japan. To prove that tradition, when held with intelligence and courage, can become something fiercely contemporary.
The fashion insert was photographed by Joséphine Löchen and styled by Rae Boxer. Together, they began from what we started to call, almost instinctively, a certain Japanese way of dressing. Their references reach back to the first seismic arrival of Japanese designers in Paris in the early 1980s, when silhouettes shifted and the Western idea of tailoring was quietly broken down. The generous, architectural volumes and radical pattern cutting of Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto still echo here. Fabric wraps, extends, protects. The body is not displayed; it is redefined.
For this issue, we have also created a special insert dedicated to the eyewear house Jacques Marie Mage, a brand who just opened its first flagship store in Tokyo. The story is photographed by Takashi Homma, the legendary image-maker who has long observed Japan with a style both tender and unsparing. Over two days, he moved through the vast, restless body of Tokyo alongside stylist Akari Endo-Gaut, capturing portraits of Japanese models on sidewalks, at crossings, between towers of glass and concrete.

We process orders from Tuesday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Our photo prints and t-shirts are produced on-demand. Please allow 2-3 weeks for production before these items are shipped. - In-Stock Items (All Other Products)
All other orders are processed and prepared for shipment within 1-2 business days. - Order Notifications
You will receive a confirmation email immediately after your purchase. A second email with tracking information will be sent as soon as your order has shipped. - Restocking
Occasionally, some item may be in the process of restocking. If this causes a delay in preparing your order, we will contact you directly by email to inform you.
2. Shipping & Delivery
- Packaging
We pack every order with care to ensure it arrives safely. Posters and prints are rolled and placed in a sturdy cardboard tube, which is then secured in a shipping box.
Important Note on Combined Orders:
Please be aware that certain items, like books and posters, cannot be safely packed together due to their different shapes and sizes. As a result, an order containing multiple item types may be shipped in separate packages and incur separate shipping fees. - Shipping Rates & Carriers
We ship worldwide from Paris via La Poste (France's national postal service), using their Colissimo, Priority Mail services. Shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on the weight, volume, and destination of your package. If you require a different carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL), please contact us before placing your order to arrange it. - Estimated Transit Times
Once your order has shipped, the estimated delivery times are as follows:

3. Free In-Store Pickup (Paris)
You can skip the shipping fees with our free local pickup service at our bookshop in Paris.
- How it Works:
Simply select the "Pick up" option at checkout.
* The "Pick up" option is displayed based on your location. If you are ordering from outside of France but wish to collect your order at our bookshop in Paris, please select "France" as the delivery country first. The "Pick up" option will then become available. If the location still does not appear, you can click on "Search elsewhere" and enter the postcode 75003. - Preparation Time:
In-stock items will be ready for pickup within 24 hours (Tuesday-Saturday). This does not apply to made-to-order items like art prints and t-shirts. - Notification:
We will send you an email as soon as your order is ready for collection, along with instructions. - Pickup Hours:

Return Policy
- 14 to 30-Day Returns: You have 14 clear days from delivery to notify us of your return if you reside within the European Union, and 30 days for orders delivered outside the European Union.
- Item Condition: Items must be returned intact, new, and securely packaged in their original condition to be eligible for a refund.
- Contact Us First: Before sending an item back, you must email us at shop@yvon-lambert.com to notify us of your decision and receive return instructions.
- Shipping Costs: Return shipping costs are your sole responsibility.
- Damaged Items: If your order arrives damaged, please send us photographs of both the package and the item by email as soon as possible (within 48 to 72 hours). If the package is visibly damaged upon delivery, you may refuse it directly with the carrier.
- International Returns (Non EU): To prevent customs charges upon arrival in France, you must clearly mark "RETURNED GOODS" on the customs declaration form (CN22/CN23) as well as on the outside of the package.
- Refunds: Once your return is received and inspected at our store, your refund will be processed within 14 days using your original payment method.
- Non-refundable Items: Magazines and custom or made-to-order items are non-refundable.
