Issue 10 of TOO MUCH: Magazine of Romantic Geography takes a deep dive into the idiosyncratic oeuvre of Schemata Architects. Founded in 1998 by Jo Nagasaka, Schemata is a Tokyo-based practice that works across architecture, interior and furniture design.
In the preceding edition of TOO MUCH, our readers discovered the ingenious adaptations of vernacular Japanese architecture by the burgeoning Muslim population. The minimalist yet impactful repurposing of spaces as improvised places of worship set the stage for our exploration of Schemata’s unique ethos in this milestone 10th issue.
Jo Nagasaka, the creative force behind Schemata Architects, introduces the concept of “pluralistic architecture,” emphasizing spaces continually shaped by diverse perspectives. Nagasaka’s deliberate embrace of open-ended designs allows for adaptation and even “misuse” of spaces, challenging traditional notions of architecture.
This issue invites readers on a captivating tour of Schemata’s projects, both past and present, examining how Nagasaka’s pluralistic philosophy transforms preexisting spaces. The essence of “semi-architecture,” as manifested in Schemata’s intentionally understated works, starkly contrasts conventional architectural norms.
Through the lens of our ongoing series “Work,” this volume provides the second installment, focusing on how individuals, in this case, Schemata Architects, dynamically transform landscapes through innovative use of biological, psychological and social resources. The issue encourages readers to reconsider their perception of architecture and design, offering a romanticized perspective that navigates toward a fresh, immersive experience of space.

1. Order Processing & Production
We process orders from Tuesday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
- Made-to-Order Items (Photo prints & T-Shirts)
Our photo prints and t-shirts are produced on-demand. Please allow 2-3 weeks for production before these items are shipped. - In-Stock Items (All Other Products)
All other orders are processed and prepared for shipment within 1-2 business days. - Order Notifications
You will receive a confirmation email immediately after your purchase. A second email with tracking information will be sent as soon as your order has shipped. - Restocking
Occasionally, some item may be in the process of restocking. If this causes a delay in preparing your order, we will contact you directly by email to inform you.
2. Shipping & Delivery
- Packaging
We pack every order with care to ensure it arrives safely. Posters and prints are rolled and placed in a sturdy cardboard tube, which is then secured in a shipping box.
Important Note on Combined Orders:
Please be aware that certain items, like books and posters, cannot be safely packed together due to their different shapes and sizes. As a result, an order containing multiple item types may be shipped in separate packages and incur separate shipping fees. - Shipping Rates & Carriers
We ship worldwide from Paris via La Poste (France's national postal service), using their Colissimo, Priority Mail, or Delivengo services. Shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on the weight, volume, and destination of your package. If you require a different carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL), please contact us before placing your order to arrange it. - Estimated Transit Times
Once your order has shipped, the estimated delivery times are as follows:

Europe: 3-5 business days
International: 5-8 business days
Standard / Priority Mail (No Signature)

3. Free In-Store Pickup (Paris)
You can skip the shipping fees with our free local pickup service at our bookshop in Paris.
- How it Works:
Simply select the "Pick up" option at checkout. - Preparation Time:
In-stock items will be ready for pickup within 24 hours (Tuesday-Saturday). This does not apply to made-to-order items like art prints and t-shirts. - Notification:
We will send you an email as soon as your order is ready for collection, along with instructions. - Pickup Hours:
Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (10h - 19h)
Sunday: 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM (14h - 19h) - What to Bring:

Return Policy
- 30-Day Returns: You can return any item within 30 days of delivery, as long as it's in new, unused condition.
- Contact Us First: Always email us at shop@yvon-lambert.com before sending anything back. We’ll guide you through the process.
- Shipping Costs: You are responsible for return shipping costs. Please note that original shipping fees are non-refundable.
- Exchanges: Yes, we offer exchanges. Contact us to arrange it. You will need to cover the new shipping fee.
- Damaged Item: If your order arrives damaged, email us photos within 48 hours. If the box looks badly damaged upon arrival, you can refuse the delivery.
- International Returns: You must write "RETURNED GOODS" clearly on the outside of the package to avoid customs fees.
- Refunds: Once we approve your return, your refund will be processed to your original payment method.
