Jenny Holzer & Henri Cole
BLUR

Major American conceptual artist Jenny Holzer  is renowned for her socially and politically engaged work—particularly in support of feminist causes—using text across various media such as posters, LED displays, and light projections. She incorporates both her own writings and texts borrowed from other authors. For this project, she invited American poet Henri Cole to collaborate by featuring his poem “BLUR”, taken from his collection Middle Earth.

Titled “BLUR”, the book includes the original English text of the poem alongside photographs of light projections of the text onto Venetian palaces, executed in 2004. A French translation of the poem is included at the end of the volume.

The text was typeset by Thomas Whitridge in Didot type and letterpress-printed by Atelier Mérat on 300 gsm Magnani di Pescia 100% Cotton paper. The photographs were digitally printed by Saturnia Edizioni d’Arte (Trieste) on 265 gsm Hahnemühle Velvet Pure White 100% Cotton paper. The complete edition is unbound, housed in a dark grey cloth-bound slipcase crafted by Établissements Dermont-Duval.
